One of Crosskey’s core values is finding sustainable solutions both for our offices and within the services we offer. It is with great pleasure we present our on-going work for a better tomorrow.

We want to inspire others to do the same by sharing three of our latest achievements within sustainability:

  • One of our goals was to be climate neutral which we achieved in 2019.
  • For the second year in a row, we received a certificate that proved Crosskey compensated for our carbon footprint by using GoClimate calculations. This is a way for us to keep track of our carbon emissions and to make sure we are also giving back to Mother Nature.
  • As of May, our Mariehamn office is Kranmärkt (‘eco-tap’) and we are now working towards doing the same in our offices in both Finland and Sweden.
What does this really mean?

Most of our electricity consumption is green by being hydro- and solar powered. However, our carbon footprint is mainly derived from electricity consumption at our offices. Crosskey compensates for the electricity used by buying Carbon Emission Reductions (CER). Thus, we are climate neutral.

GoClimate calculates an approximate carbon footprint value using for example the number of employees, square meters of offices, travel, meals etc. in one year. We compensate for our carbon emissions with the help of these statistics. This is the reason why we have invested in diverse global projects; last year it was the “Karnataka Wind” in India, and this year’s project is the “Belen Wind Power Plant” in Turkey. The project aims to increase renewable energy and let us help accelerate the transition to renewable energy around the world.

Kranmärkt is an environmental friendly solution that encourage the use of tap water over bottled water.

Small choices with big impacts

Sustainability affects how we do things both internally and externally – we want to encourage both our customers and employees to incorporate sustainable solutions in their everyday life. For example, solar energy can in fact provide the same performance whilst being more affordable and more climate friendly. Or by reducing plastic waste, such as water bottles, it will have a great impact on climate change.

We also conducted a survey within Crosskey and asked our employees about sustainability and how they value it. The results show a score of 4.32/5, which means it is a high priority amongst our employees; a score we present with great pride.

As for the future, we are consistently working towards finding new and better ways for us and our customers to be more sustainable.
