Tell us about your background and what are you doing at Crosskey?

I studied economics because it provides a broad foundation, and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to work with (who does when you're in your early 20s?). Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various roles and companies, but eventually ended up in Finance at a bank, specifically in the Capital Markets Back Office. There, I gained hands-on experience in banking and Capital Markets, as well as an understanding of the need for systems that handle complex requirements. Overtime, I transitioned to various roles, broadening my expertise in the finance sector, with a main focus on Capital Markets.

At Crosskey, I currently work as a Product Specialist within Capital Markets. This position has allowed me to be involved in the entire process — from understanding customer needs to defining requirements, assisting developers, testing functionality, and ultimately delivering solutions to customers.

Why did you choose a career in tech?

I chose a career in tech because I wanted to be part of the development and evolution of systems, not just users of them. With almost 15 years of experience in a bank and in the Capital Markets Back Office, I have both broad and detailed knowledge of the industry, and a good understanding of customer needs, both in the Back Office and Front Office.

What excites me about the tech industry, and working at Crosskey, is its constant evolution and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, transformative projects. Being part of the process where many of the changes are mandatory, while still striving to meet the requirements with the customer and usability in mind, is both challenging and rewarding when the team succeeds.

How has Crosskey promoted your career and personal growth?

Crosskey has played a substantial role in my personal and career development by providing an environment that encourages growth, learning, and innovation within a team where everyone is valued. Through a culture of knowledge-sharing and helpfulness, I’ve had the opportunity to improve my technical skills and gain a better understanding of all parts of our system. Even though I don't do the actual development, my role as a Product Specialist—along with my knowledge of the technical setup of our system—is critical in maintaining the product’s coherence and cleanliness. And if necessary, determine if and how minor adaptations can be made for all our customers.

Furthermore, Crosskey’s focus on professional development, including access to training programs and education, has empowered me to take on new challenges and grow within the company, particularly in the Capital Markets department.

Why should young women go for tech, and what advice would you give women considering a career in tech?

I believe women should consider a career in tech because it’s an industry that offers endless possibilities for creativity and innovation. Technology is shaping our world, and everyone—regardless of gender, religion, politics, or skin color—has an essential role to play in this transformation.

My advice would be to take the leap of faith and not be afraid to make mistakes. Seek out supportive networks, find mentors, and stay curious. And remember, tech is not just for developers. It can sometimes feel intimidating, but there are important roles for people with diverse expertise in the industry. It’s about problem-solving and collaboration, skills that everyone can contribute to.

What changes would you like to see in the tech industry to make it more interesting and inclusive for women?

At Crosskey, I feel we have a culture that not only welcomes everyone but truly values each individual, regardless of gender, religion, politics, or any other differences. In the tech industry, I would love to see this inclusive culture become the standard.

To attract more women, we should create more mentorship opportunities and promote women-focused tech communities and events to inspire the next generation of women in tech. It’s crucial that we build an environment where everyone has the chance to succeed and contribute, regardless of who they are.
